Michael Agyiri

Walk in my ways so your life can go well.

I am Michael, from the campus ministry, and have been with the bible studies group (St. Alban's Chapel) for about a year now.

“But they did not obey or incline their ear, but, in the stubbornness of their evil will, they walked in their own counsels, and looked backward rather than forward.” Jeremiah 7:24

Devotional

Jeremiah’s message hits close to my heart. God’s request is clear and loving: “Listen to me. Walk in my ways so your life can go well.” But the people refused to listen. They chose to follow their own thoughts and desires instead of God’s direction.

I wonder how often I do the same—hearing God, yet choosing my own plans, my own timing, and my own comfort. During the Ash Wednesday service, Father Brandon reminded us that life is too short and unpredictable to live without purpose, and that death is not the end but a change of phase where accountability awaits us. That truth did not just echo in the sermon—it spoke directly to me.

This season of Lent calls me to examine whether I am truly moving forward with God or simply going in circles, repeating the same habits and excuses. Am I really listening when He speaks? Am I living intentionally each day? Or am I postponing obedience as if I have endless time? This passage carries a serious warning: if I ignore God long enough, I can slowly drift away from truth. Yet there is hope—God does not give up. He keeps reaching out. This season reminds me to listen carefully, live with purpose, and choose obedience now.
