“Come on in, fellers. The water’s fine.”

I have been Attending St Alban’s since 2001.

Over the years at St Alban’s I have been in Building and Grounds, Junior Warden, Senior Warden, Treasurer, along with being part of Altar Guild since around 2006, and now assist with our Worship Services.

Today's devotional is based on:

"You have forgiven the iniquity of your people and blotted out all their sins” PSALM 85:2

Devotional

The first thing that came to mind after reading this verse was the scene of Delmar (from O Brother Where Art Thou?) arising from the river after his baptism and proclaiming  that God “had warshed is sins away” and hollering at the top of his lungs for his friends to join him in having his sins removed.

I had a similar reaction after my first confession, ever, in 2001. It was heard by God through his messenger Father Patrick Smith, here at St Alban’s.

The feeling of being forgiven was, and still is, incredible. Especially when I realized that whenever I screw up (and I definitely will do that) God will be there to help me through that pain and will forgive me. Not seven times but seventy seven times.

He will do that for us all. All we have to do is ask.

“Come on in, fellers. The water’s fine.”
