Faith is not something we can necessarily see, touch, taste, hear, or smell.

I have been attending St. Albans for three years. I am also connected to the readers, acolytes, and book club.
Today's devotional is based on:
"The foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom." 1 Corinthians 1:18-31
Devotional
The question of faith is one that has persisted through time. This makes sense as faith is not something we can necessarily see, touch, taste, hear, or smell. Faith is rooted in trust and confidence that is beyond evidence. Paul points out that the abstract nature of faith is confounding and seems foolish to some like the Jews and the Greeks. According to the Greeks and the Jews in this passage, we should look for signs and wisdom to confirm faith and power. Paul argues, however, that we cannot look to each other for these qualities because “God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength”. Therefore, it is important that we not look to those who claim to have power but look to God instead.
Lent is a season of self-reflection, and this passage asks us to reflect on our faith and what inspires us to have faith. Sometimes having faith is difficult and it can be easy to question God when there are obstacles. We might even feel foolish at times, and this can cause us to look for sources of strength and wisdom outside of God. Although often family and friends can provide support, it is important to look to God and have faith in Him as he will always be there to provide the ultimate wisdom and strength.
